Sam Ford

Sam Ford was fatally wounded in Bardstown, Kentucky, on November 6, 1877, while held in custody. George W. Hunter, a former marshal of Bardstown, was transporting people in custody to the penitentiary when the shooting happened. The Batesville Guard reported that Ford was trying to escape.

Cause of death, as reported: Killed by staff. Hunter, a former marshal transporting prisoners to the penitentiary, fatally wounded Ford, according to the 1877 newspaper report.
