Sam Davenport
Sam Davenport, who was Black, was held in the jail in Leighton, Alabama. According to a brief wire report datelined January 25, 1909, citizens took Sam from the jail and hanged Sam. Sam Davenport died in the hands of the mob that seized them from the custody of the jail.
