Salve Stewart
Salve Stewart, a Black man, was taken from law officers by a mob and hanged near Rosebud, Texas, according to a news report reprinted in the River Falls Journal on May 20, 1897. The same report names Henry Williams and David Cotton as hanged in the same episode. Salve Stewart was held in the custody of law officers when the mob took them and killed them.
