Sadler
Sadler was held in the jail at Springfield, Tennessee. In late May 1878, according to the Chariton Courier's report published June 29, 1878, a mob took him from the jail and killed him. The surviving scan of the report is partly illegible, so the account of how the killing happened and whether jail staff resisted or handed him over cannot be confirmed. The date of death is inferred from the publication timing rather than stated outright.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The newspaper account reports that a mob took Sadler from the jail at Springfield, Tennessee, and killed him, though the scanned text is garbled at that point.
Reported by: historical newspaper report (OCR text) (reporters).
