Died in jail or a lockup
Rymer
A man named Rymer was held at the jail at West Las Animas, Colorado, on the night of August 20, 1882, when a mob of masked men took him from custody and hanged him. The Batesville Guard reported that the mob was believed to be soldiers from nearby Fort Lyon, a claim the brief item does not confirm. Nothing in the account says whether the jail staff resisted the mob, gave up the keys, or handed him over.
