Ryan Groot
Ryan Groot, 32, was held in a single cell at the Sandusky County jail in Fremont, Ohio. The Sandusky County Sheriff's Office said a corrections officer found him during a routine check, and that he appeared to have hanged himself with a bed sheet tied to a ceiling ventilation system. He was taken to a hospital in Fremont and then to a hospital in Toledo, where he died on April 30, 2017. The Sandusky Register reported that an autopsy by the Lucas County coroner and an investigation were ongoing. The state corrections department was to review the jail and its policies.
