Rudy Silva
Rudy Silva, 35, became ill while held at the San Luis Obispo County Jail and was moved to intensive care at a hospital in San Luis Obispo, where he died on January 27, 2014. The Coroner's Office listed the cause of death as acute hypoxic respiratory failure, septic shock, and influenza A and staphylococcus aureus bacteremia. A medical examiner's finding, reported by the San Luis Obispo Tribune in 2018, identified the virus as H1N1 flu, the first confirmed flu death in the county from that strain that season.
