Rube Caruthern

Rube Caruthern, a Black man, died on the night of August 18, 1880, in Texas. The Daily Republican reported that about 40 masked men took him from the jail at Brenkham and lynched him. The Mower County Transcript placed the killing at Benham and said disguised men took him from the guards and hanged him.
