Roni Kachanes, 61, died on the morning of Sunday, April 19, 2020, in a hospice room at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville. He had been placed in hospice care because of a chronic illness. The Iowa Department of Corrections says his death was from natural causes.
