Ronald DeFeo Jr., 69, worked with his father at a car dealership in Brooklyn, and at a 1999 parole hearing he said, "I loved my family very much." He had been held at Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg, New York, and was taken to Albany Medical Center on February 2, 2021, where he died on March 12. The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision confirmed the death but would not say why he was hospitalized, citing health privacy laws. The cause of death had not been announced, and the Albany County Medical Examiner's Office was to determine it through an autopsy.
