Ronald David Neal, 78, died on June 14, 2026, at a hospital after a medical emergency in his cell at the Travis County jail, where he was held. The Travis County Sheriff's Office said a corrections officer called for help around 9:30 a.m. after seeing he appeared to be in distress, and that EMS took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:03 a.m. The Sheriff's Office, the Texas Rangers and the medical examiner are investigating, and the cause and manner of death await the autopsy's final report.
