Rodrico McLeod, 36, died at the Peoria County Jail on January 2, 2017. He was found unresponsive during rounds at the jail. Peoria County coroner Jamie Harwood said preliminary autopsy results point to bacterial meningitis as the cause of death. Harwood reported no trauma or injury. The coroner said the strain involved is rarely spread through casual contact and that health care providers and jail staff had been notified and were not at risk.
