Rodney Long
Rodney Long was held at the Clarinda Correctional Facility, a state prison in Iowa, until he escaped and was at large for about four days. Iowa state investigators said he entered a rural home in Bedford, where the homeowners were with him for about four hours. They said the homeowner, Jerome Mauderly, got a shotgun and shot him once. Officers found Long dead inside the home, and investigators said the couple would not face charges.
