Robert W. Norwood
Robert W. Norwood was a young man in his early twenties, whom the Ouachita Telegraph described as prepossessing, with a high reputation in the community and good parentage. He was held under the guard of about twelve men, who hid during the night of January 13, 1872, to keep him from a crowd. On Sunday morning, January 14, 1872, about 100 armed men took him from the guard and hanged him from a tree about a mile and a half away. The paper reported that many of his friends found it hard to believe he was guilty.
