Robert Sunmonu, 28, died on July 3, 2026, while held at the Pinellas County Jail in Florida, where he had been housed since May 13. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said he had documented preexisting medical conditions and that investigators found no signs of injuries from his time in custody. The sheriff's Robbery and Homicide Unit is still investigating, and the medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
