Died in jail or a lockup
Robert Linwood Chavers
Robert Linwood Chavers, 68, of Statesboro, died on May 2, 2024, while held at the Bulloch County Jail. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said jail staff found him unresponsive in his cell at about 6:30 a.m., and life-saving efforts failed. The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office asked the GBI to investigate, and that investigation is active and ongoing. The cause and manner of his death have not yet been determined.
