Robert Jones
Robert Jones was a Black man held in the Logan County jail in Russellville, Kentucky. A man held separately, Browder, said the four men all worked on farms in the same vicinity. Early on Saturday, August 1, 1908, a mob of about fifty masked men forced their way into the jail, took four men from their cells, and hanged them from a tree on the pike at the edge of town. The Associated Press reported that the jailer was held at gunpoint and handed over the keys, and that no shots were fired.
