Robert J. Henchen, 42, died on May 19, 2007, while held at the Holding Center in Erie County. A state report said he died of pneumonia brought on by malnutrition and dehydration after he stopped eating and taking his prescribed medications for several days. The State Commission of Correction said he received inadequate mental health care while in custody.
