Robert Groenjes
Robert Groenjes, 47, had schizophrenia, and his mother said his medication kept him calm, so she wants to know whether he was given it at the Douglas County jail. He died there in February 2017, about a week after police took him into the facility. The county attorney said a doctor attributed the death to respiratory failure and possibly excited delirium, and a grand jury will examine his treatment there. His family said his death certificate was on hold for months, which kept them from getting his belongings from his apartment, and his mother said she has lain awake wondering what happened to him.
