Robert C. Knisell Jr., 36, of Saugerties, was found unconscious in his cell at the Greene County Jail in New York before dinner on Monday, February 22, 2016. The Greene County Sheriff's Office said the cause of his death remains under investigation and will not be determined until toxicology reports, expected in three weeks or more, are returned. The sheriff said officers saw no red flags and that a corrections officer had made rounds and checked on Knisell within 30 minutes of his death, an account from the agency that held him and not independently confirmed.
