Robert Boyer
Robert Boyer was a Black man and a tenant farmer who worked alongside other tenant farmers and belonged to the True Reformers, a society that held local meetings and promoted self-sufficiency, including insurance and burials. He was one of four Black men held at the Russellville jail in Logan County, Kentucky. In the early morning of August 1, 1908, the article says an armed mob of an estimated 50 to 100 men entered the jail and demanded the four men. It says the jailer was asked to hand over the keys, that the mob succeeded, and that they took the men to the Proctor lynching tree in the southwestern suburb of Logan County, where they were lynched.
