Riley Walker

Riley Walker, a Black person, was being transported by train when they were taken at Mitchell's Station, Alabama, and killed by a mob, according to The Cape Girardeau Democrat, which published the report on September 1, 1894. Their custody during transport made the train and the officers responsible for them part of the account of what happened. The paper's report describes how the mob took Riley Walker and lynched them, and attributes that account to the newspaper rather than to any official record.
