Richard Smith
Richard Smith, of Gary, Indiana, was found dead in his cell in Division 9 of the Cook County Jail in Illinois early on May 28, 2018. The Cook County Sheriff's Office said he hanged himself with a bed sheet, and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a suicide after an examination the next day. The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force is investigating the death.
