Richard Robinson died in July 2023 at Lawrenceville Correctional Center, a privately run state prison in Lawrenceville, Virginia. His sister, Tamee Haskins, described him as "like my rib" and said he had texted her hours before she learned of his death, asking for a food bag and saying he loved her. The prison confirmed his death but did not share how he died, and his family says they have received no explanation. Police said their investigation was ongoing, and a sheriff's office call log showed an overdose call on the day he died; the cause and manner remain unconfirmed.
