Richard James Poynton
Richard James Poynton, 64, was held at San Quentin State Prison in California, where he had been on death row since 2001. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said staff found him unresponsive in his single-occupied cell on the morning of April 30, 2015, and he was pronounced dead at 6:50 a.m. The department said the cause of death was not yet known and was awaiting autopsy results.
