Richard Sciubba
Richard Sciubba, 41, is survived by his family, including his children, who his attorney said were shocked and saddened by his death. On a Thursday morning in December 2023 he was found unresponsive in his cell at the Allegheny County Jail, and he was pronounced dead within about half an hour. The jail said there were no obvious signs of foul play and that an apparent suicide note was found, while the medical examiner has not determined the cause of death. His attorney said the family is trying to learn whether it was a preventable medical event or a drug-related incident, and Carnegie Mellon University's Center for Human Rights Science records list the manner as suicide, with acute intoxication from fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl and xylazine as the cause.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of an overdose. The Allegheny County Jail said an apparent suicide note was found, while records compiled by Carnegie Mellon's Center for Human Rights Science list acute intoxication from fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl and xylazine, and the medical examiner has not yet determined the cause of death.
