Richard Buchanan
Richard Buchanan, 72, grew up in the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa neighborhoods just north of the U.S.-Mexico border. He died at Kern Valley State Prison in California, where he was held, on October 20, 2026. According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, staff found him unresponsive in his cell on a Tuesday morning. The Kern County Coroner's office has not yet determined the cause or manner of death.
