Richard Bennett
Richard Bennett, 28, an American Indian man, was held at the Blackfeet Correctional Facility in May 2018. According to a federal Interior Department report, he told guards he was having chest pains, and that complaint was dismissed. Hours later he collapsed. The report says two guards argued over whether he had a pulse, and that this dispute delayed lifesaving measures for seven minutes. Advocates say his death, like George Floyd's, reflects how Native people are devalued in the justice system.
