Richard Beasley
Richard Beasley, 55, was held at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman when he died on August 31, 2018. The Mississippi Department of Corrections said he was pronounced dead at Allegiance Specialty Hospital in Greenville, and it has not yet stated a cause or manner of death, which await an autopsy. WAPT reported that he was one of 16 people to die in the department's custody that month, a figure that prompted an investigation. The commissioner said most of the August deaths appear to be from illness or natural causes.
