Rhonda James, 40, died in connection with the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia, South Carolina, either at the jail or after being taken from it to a hospital. The Columbia newspaper The State named her in a July 26, 2024 column among 23 people who died there or after such a transfer over about ten years.
