Reimbeimer was held at the jail in Rockport, Missouri. According to a St. Joseph dispatch carried by the New-York Tribune, about twenty unidentified men took him from the jail on the morning of June 11, 1881, and hanged him from a tree.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A St. Joseph dispatch reports that about twenty unidentified men took Reimbeimer from the Rockport jail and hanged him from a tree.
