Died in jail or a lockup
Rebecca Freeman-Krebs
Rebecca Freeman-Krebs, 46, was found dead in her cell at the Clay County Jail in Vermillion on the morning of February 8, 2025, and she was the only occupant of the cell. The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation was asked by the county sheriff's office to investigate, and an autopsy was scheduled for the following Monday. The cause and manner of her death were still pending at the time of reporting, according to the South Dakota Attorney General's Office.
