Ready Murdoch

died June 3, 1894 · Durant Jail, Holmes County, Mississippi

Ready Murdoch was held in the Durant jail in Mississippi, where a deputy sheriff from another town had placed him to protect him from a mob. Early on June 3, 1894, a mob surrounded the jail and took him toward the place where the events that prompted the mob had occurred. The Edgefield Advertiser's opinion was that he was hanged on the road between Durant and Yazoo City.
