Raymond Reyes Jr.
Raymond Reyes Jr., a 22-year-old man from Hayward and the father of a 4-month-old son, died at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on July 24, 2019. His mother said he loved to joke around and sing, and his family said he would have been a wonderful father. The Alameda County sheriff's deputies told the family he died by suicide by hanging, after he had been held in isolation for 19 days; his wife said he seemed fine on a phone call the day before. The family says they have received few answers, and his sister does not believe he took his own life.
