Raul E. Mendoza
Raul E. Mendoza, 30, was held at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano, California, when, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, two other incarcerated people attacked him on May 13, 2024, leaving multiple puncture wounds. CDCR said he was taken to an outside medical facility for a higher level of care and died there on May 16, 2024. The department says it is investigating the death as a homicide, and the Kern County Coroner will determine the official cause of death. The attack is under investigation by the prison, the district attorney and the coroner.
