Randy Schlaepfer
Randy Schlaepfer, 55, died on July 14, 2024, at California State Prison, Sacramento in Folsom, where he was held in state custody. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said he was attacked by three other people held there and stabbed multiple times, and that staff used pepper spray and a blast grenade to stop the attack. The department said he was pronounced dead about 35 minutes later and that two weapons made inside the prison were recovered. Patch reported that officials placed the attack at about 9:10 a.m. and had not released a possible motive, and the Sacramento County Coroner will determine the official cause of death.
