Randy Glenn Jr.

34 years old · died January 17, 2023 · Waukesha County Jail, Waukesha County, Wisconsin

Randy Glenn Jr., a 34-year-old man from Milwaukee, was a married father of six. He was booked into the Waukesha County Jail on January 16, 2023, and was found dead in his cell the next morning, January 17, despite efforts to save him. An autopsy found cocaine packets in his stomach, and the Sheriff's Office says he swallowed the bags and repeatedly denied doing so. Prosecutors allege that a jail nurse and a sheriff's lieutenant did not get him to a hospital even though staff knew he was in distress, and a jury found the nurse not guilty in March 2025 while a separate case against another jail worker is pending. His family, through attorney Mark Thomsen, is seeking answers about his death.

Cause of death, as reported: Died of an overdose (disputed; neglect alleged). The Sheriff's Office says Randy Glenn Jr. swallowed bags of cocaine and fentanyl and repeatedly denied it, while prosecutors allege a nurse and a lieutenant failed to send him to the hospital despite signs of drug ingestion.

Reported by: Waukesha County Sheriff's Office (the agency that held him); medical examiner or coroner; Waukesha County prosecutors; family attorney Mark Thomsen (family or their lawyers).
