Ramsey

Ramsey, a man, was held in the jail at Springfield, Robertson County, Tennessee. On the night of September 14, 1880, a masked mob broke open the jail and shot him repeatedly. The Batesville Guard reported the killing on September 22, 1880, and gives no first name for him. The American Citizen also reported on September 25, 1880, that a masked mob broke into the Springfield jail that night and shot him.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A masked mob broke open the Springfield jail and riddled Ramsey with bullets, according to the 1880 newspaper account.
