Ramon Valencia-Morfin
Ramon Valencia-Morfin, 53, was a native of Tepalcatepec, Michoacan, Mexico, according to the Mexican Consulate, and his family told his attorney they did not believe he would hurt himself. He was held at the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility in Raymondville, Texas, a privately run facility, where he was placed in a multi-person cell. The Willacy County Sheriff's Office said he died of self-inflicted wounds to his neck and was taken to a Harlingen hospital, where he was pronounced dead on July 15, 2016. His family and attorney Oscar Alvarez dispute that it was suicide and have asked for a fuller investigation and an autopsy, which had not been performed when the article was published.
