Politz
Politz was held at the parish prison in New Orleans when a mob forced its way in on March 14, 1891, after a jury verdict had angered many residents. According to The Climax, the mob took him from his cell and hanged him from a lamp post at Treme and Staan streets. The same paper reports that six men were taken from their cells and killed that night. The paper does not say whether the jail's officers resisted, gave up keys, or handed him over.
