Died in jail or a lockup
Phillip Lemmon Jr.
Phillip Lemmon Jr., 49, of Kingstree, died on August 20, 2025, at MUSC Health Black River Medical Center after being taken from the Williamsburg County Detention Center in South Carolina. According to the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office, detention staff found him in need of medical attention early that morning, and county EMS transported him to the hospital. The sheriff's office and Coroner Ivori Henryhand have not released a cause of death, and an autopsy was scheduled. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
