Phil Lyons
Phil Lyons, 67, was a long-haul truck driver who became close to his wife Pat and her children. He died in April 2013 in the prison hospice at the Wende Correctional Facility in New York, where he was held. His widow told City Limits that he lived for years with chest pain after heart surgery, that broken surgical wires went untreated, and that he was told a spot on his lung would be checked but was not treated before a tumor was found in 2012. The article reports that the state prison system did not respond to questions about his case.
