Peter Monahan
Peter Monahan, 74, was hanged at the jail in Baltimore on August 13, 1897. The Semi-Weekly Messenger reported that he spent his last night quietly, received the final rites of the Catholic church, and chatted cheerfully with those around him. The paper also said he joked with jail board member Frank Watcher about wrestling him on the scaffold.
