Perry Helly
Perry Helly was being taken to the jail at Sulphur Springs, Texas, in the custody of officers in early December 1884. A Dallas dispatch published on December 4, 1884, reported that a mob of about 100 men seized him from the officers and lynched him. According to the same report, the sheriff got away with another man who had been held with Helly and lodged him in the Sulphur Springs jail, and a further mob attack was feared.
