Paul Victor Galambos III
Paul Victor Galambos III grew up in Buxton, Maine, where he played football and baseball and loved to play guitar and compose music. He died in December 2008 in a cell in the medical unit of the Cumberland County Jail, after days of self-injury while he was struggling with psychosis. The state Medical Examiner's Office ruled his death a suicide and attributed it to blood clots that developed in his legs from his injuries. His family's federal wrongful-death lawsuit says jail medical staff failed to properly treat him and failed to protect him, and the family contends his death was foreseeable and preventable.
