Patrick Rice Jr.
Patrick Rice Jr., 32, of Asheville, collapsed during free time at the Buncombe County Detention Facility on June 26, 2019. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said it appeared to be a seizure, and staff and first responders gave him CPR before he was taken to Mission Hospital. He was pronounced dead about 8:30 p.m. The sheriff's office said the death remains under investigation.
