Patrick Neal
Patrick Neal, 27, of Anniston, died on June 15, 2021. He had been held at Limestone Correctional Facility in Alabama, where his attorney, Bruce Downey, and his sister, Terilaine Wheeler, say he sought care for months for weakness, pain and partial paralysis before a tumor on his spine was found at UAB. He was released in October 2019 and later developed severe complications. Neal had been suing medical providers over his paralysis, and Downey and Wheeler say his death could have been prevented with timely care. He had four children, and his sister said he worried he would never be able to teach his son basketball or football.
