Patrick Fitzpatrick
Patrick Fitzpatrick was hanged in 1828 in Michigan, then a territory. The Death Penalty Information Center reports that in 1835 a former roommate confessed to the killing on his deathbed. The account says that confession shows Fitzpatrick was innocent. His execution was carried out before the confession came to light.
