Patrick Allen
Patrick Allen, 46, died on August 5, 2026, after Knoxville police officers took him into custody at a convenience store on Sutherland Avenue. Police say he was placed in a patrol car to await medical personnel, and that his condition worsened while he was being evaluated at the scene before he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say officers pinned him to the ground during the arrest and that he had minor visible injuries. Body camera video, as described in news reports, shows him lying still and becoming unresponsive in the patrol car, and receiving CPR in an ambulance; the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the department's internal affairs office are investigating, and three officers were placed on administrative leave.
