According to a dispatch from Rawlins published in The Sun, Pasquales was one of several men who broke out of the Wyoming penitentiary at Rawlins on Sunday, October 13, 1912. The group ran into the railroad yards with prison guards following, and Pasquales was killed at the first gunfire. The dispatch does not say who fired the shot.

Cause of death, as reported: Killed by staff. A newspaper dispatch from Rawlins says he was killed at the first gunfire as prison guards pursued the escaping group.
